Thomas Cruise Mapother IV was born on 3th July 1962 in Syracuse, New York, USA. He is an American actor and film producer who better known by his screen name of Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise spent the 1980s as one of Hollywood's brightest-shining golden boys. Though below average height and not particularly handsome in the traditional sense, within 5 years Tom Cruise was starring in some of the top grossing films of the 1980s including Top Gun (1986); The Color of Money (1986), Rain Man (1988) and Born on the Fourth of July (1989).

The first movie from Tom Cruise was break in Endless Love (1981), But his first big hit was Risky Business (1982) which has been described as "A Generation X classic, and a career-maker" for the actor. In 1990 Tom Cruise renounced his devout Catholic beliefs and embraced The Church Of Scientology claiming that Scientology teachings had cured him of the dyslexia that had plagued him all of his life.

• Cruise married Mimi Rogers on May 9, 1987. They divorced on February 4, 1990. Rogers is generally believed to have introduced Cruise to Scientology.
• Cruise met Nicole Kidman on the set of their film Days of Thunder. The couple married on December 24, 1990. He and Kidman adopted two children, Isabella Jane and Connor Antony. They separated in February 2001 when Kidman was three months pregnant; she later miscarried.
• Cruise was next romantically linked with Penelope Cruz, the lead actress in his film Vanilla Sky. After a three-year relationship, in March 2004, Cruise announced that their relationship had ended in January.
• In April 2005, Cruise began dating actress Katie Holmes. Shortly after they began their highly publicized relationship, on June 17, 2005, Cruise announced he had proposed to her at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
